Providing an objective voice for the new home security customer
A DeLand, Florida man faces burglary charges after workers at the Putman Hotel told police they caught him pushing a safe through the lobby in a shopping cart.
Frederick Michael Watson, 57, who lives at the hotel on west New York Avenue, was arrested behind the hotel after telling police officers he found the safe. But police said Watson also denied kicking in the door of a fourth-floor apartment. Interesting development, say police, considering they had provided no information about the break-in.
To add insult to idiocy, a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the presence of drugs in the safe, so it was seized and a search warrant will be obtained in order to check out the contents.

Most exterior lighting these days include motion detection. This is a total advantage because it means only buying and installing a single product that gives you twice the bang for your buck.

Making it appear that you’re home when you’re not, or that more people are home than really are, are very effective ways of repelling burglars. With the use of relatively inexpensive timers, you can create any appearance of domesticity you desire.
Timers come in a variety of types and styles ranging from the very inexpensive single-device type that you manually set, to the fairly expensive multi-device unit that is digital and programmable. No matter which type you go with, it’s important to consider the mixed use of lamps, televisions, and radios for the most effective approach.
Setting lamps and televisions to turn on when you’re not home is very smart, and whatever you set up in one room can be duplicated in any other room in your house. It’s also a great idea to set lamps, televisions, and radios on timers in other parts of the house if you’re home alone in a big house.
Anything you can do to convince burglars that you’re home, or that you’re not home alone is a good deterrent. Burglars want an easy hit, and they’ll look for something more enticing.
To some home owners, window security bars may seem tacky, but to others the bars provide a sense of security needed to sleep more soundly at night. No matter your opinion, it’s apparent that window security bars are a visual deterrent to most would-be burglars.
Window security bars are most effective when used on windows that have easy access from the outside. Ground level windows on busy traffic areas in your neighborhood are the primary windows to consider protecting.
